The “Low Poly” colourway references the term 'low polygon', a video game term that relates to the amount of polygons within a 3D texture behind the game's resolution. The campaign for the shoe featured Kai in a low-resolution version of his usual streaming room, a theme which tied in the inspiration for the Air Max 1.
Making use of the “University Red” make-up which is considered a staple within the Max 1 catalogue, this version takes design cues from video games during the ‘90s and early 2000s. Squared panelling and Swoosh are the biggest give-aways, with the typical branding also given a pixelated finish. Detailed across the toe box is the pixelated bleed of grey from the lace panelling, a touch that is sure to be appreciated by real sneakerheads. As Kai pointed out on the stream, the sockliner reads “Push Start”, another retro gaming feature that adds to this pair’s storytelling. Landing in a special edition red .SWOOSH box along with some low-res wrapping paper, no stone has been left unturned on this limited edition Air Max 1.
